Sadly we have had to make the decision to ‘Rest’ the event this year. Although we have had success in the past years with teams enjoying the run along the River Parrett and the welcome pub at the end, we have found it difficult to get clubs to commit teams. We get there in the end but it is hard work.
This year we have decided not to organise it. One of our key organisers has other commitments this yet and then on the 2nd of January we had the devastating news that one of our most committed committee members had died whilst out on a run with the club along the Brit Valley Way.
A lot of other club runners may have know Jim if not by name, as he was always helping at events (Drinks station on the Crewkerne 10K, PTR Leg 2 marshal and on the road crossing on the Monty). This has created quite a void in the club. He died on a bright Sunny day doing what he enjoyed most despite the valliant efforts of club members and the emergency services
It may be possible we may try and organise a fitting run to honour Jim in the place of the PTR this year.
