Somerset Series Update & Virtual Mells Scenic 7

Greetings all!

Firstly I hope you are all well, a very strange year to put it mildly!

As no doubt you’ve already guessed we have no choice but to call off this year’s Series and (hopefully) start afresh for 2021.  Please let me know any race dates for next year as I will endeavour to have a 2021 list together by November.  We will basically roll everything over to next year.  Well done to any clubs who do manage to get their races on (I think BHAM Trail & The Beast are potentially going ahead?  Please correct me if I’m wrong).  We haven’t made a decision on Brent Knoll yet but it’s looking pretty doubtful that it will go ahead.

Obviously  there are numerous factors/guidelines in play which could affect what happens for next year, time will tell.

We were all saddened by the loss of Brian Beale and will provide a fitting tribute when we can.  I have found a new scorer, Ola Timpson (Running Forever) has very kindly volunteered herself.

Finally Frome Running Club are putting on a virtual Mells Scenic 7, it’s a great route. Please spread the word, details below:

This year the Mells Scenic 7 race, organised by Frome Running Club, will be run virtually due to Corona Virus, and therefore all of you have the opportunity to run this beautiful (and challenging) route and get a fab wooden medal. So why don’t you take advantage of this opportunity and sign up via EntryCentral ( https://www.entrycentral.com). The event will be open for the whole of September 2020, so you can choose the date and time when you run between 1 and 30 Sep, however you must run the specific route, details of which are on the club website under events/MS7. Please note for those of you who know the route, the start/finish point and the route is slightly different as we can't cross the private land we normally do.

Once you have completed your race you need to email evidence (eg strava/garmin screen shot) that you ran the specific route and the time you completed it in to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. You will then be sent your medal and your details entered onto the results sheet. At the start of Oct the final race results will be published on the Club website.

Regards

Vicki Trundle (MS7 race director)

See you soon, I hope.
